Client assessments

Client assessments

The client assessment is a private 1hr session whereby new clients have the opportunity to go through the client assessment form (filled out online when booking) in more detail. We will discuss any issues you may want to discuss, be it physical or other and see how that affects your movement or your ability to attend classes or appointments. We will also look at the reformer and other equipment if that is where your interest lies and build your confidence and understanding so that you may more easily access our services. If you are not interested in the equipment but would like to do matwork Pilates, we will start working on the basic exercises to give you the confidence to move forwards with group classes or further private appointments.

Private appointments

Private appointments

Private sessions enable the participant's to determine how they would like to work in that session and on which pieces of equipment if that is desired. Once you have started to move, your instructor will then evaluate areas of your movement that may require more attention and determine exercises that would suit your development. You’ll have exercises that your body struggles with – often the ones you need the most– and exercises that you really enjoy, and both are relevant to learning to accept and appreciate your connection with your body in each session.

Private appointments can be booked as individual one-off sessions or in blocks of ten sessions, for one to four participants. We will take into account the needs and abilities of the group and the goals you would collectively like to achieve if you have them.

Beginner reformer class

Beginner reformer class

This is a 1hr group reformer class of up to four participants, suitable for anyone who has not trained with us before. You will learn how to use the reformer and become familiar with the machine, and how it can help you with your movement or challenge you. For total beginners to the reformer, it is recommended that you use this class after having completed a client assessment.

Improver reformer class

Improver reformer class

This is a 1hr group reformer class of up to four participants, for clients who have worked with us for some time and have a good grasp of Pilates, the reformer and the basic exercises. This level implies an increase in difficulty of the exercises, the number of exercises performed and the intensity of the class compared to a beginner class. If you wish to attend at this level, ideally you will need to have completed a client assessment, private session or have attended a beginner-level reformer class with us.

Intermediate reformer class for matwork teachers

Intermediate reformer class for matwork teachers

This is a 75 minute group reformer class of up to four participants, for Pilates matwork teachers who have a strong understanding of the principles and matwork repertoire and are looking to develop their understanding of Pilates in their own bodies through the reformer. It is not essential that you have used the equipment before or for a long time, as this class will build through the beginner to the intermediate repertoire and how to obtain more from your body, which should prove useful in your own teaching. If you are a reformer teacher, you may be better suited to the advanced class on offer, unless you wish to use this class as a refresher or extra.

Advanced reformer class for reformer teachers

Advanced reformer class for reformer teachers

This is a 75 minute group class for up to three Pilates reformer teachers who regularly teach on the machines and are looking to learn, explore and maintain the advanced work in their bodies with other teachers of a similar standard. This class is participant led, not taught, and is an opportunity to explore and learn from and develop with other teachers. The class will start with a warm-up, followed by a focus on the exercises participants find most challenging, and the solutions to developing the exercise in that class or in time. Other themes to explore may include different schools of teaching or perspectives on popularised reformer exercises, work-outs or programmes, so come with your ideas as they will be welcome!

All matwork classes – beginner to intermediate

All matwork classes – beginner to intermediate

The 1hr matwork Pilates classes are for beginner to intermediate level, for a maximum of four participants in person, or 12 participants online. The matwork repertoire is a fantastic addition to your movement, strength and flexibility and can be performed in its own right or alongside the reformer work for maximum benefit.

In the class we will warm up with some gentle stretches and functional movements that will highlight areas of weakness or limitations in the body. From here we’ll explore challenges in the body, working with the breathing and patterns of movement to develop into more complex movements or positions, using small equipment to add further challenge and awareness.
